Repent and Believe

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus." Romans 3:23-24

The Problem: All have sinned. Our Sin Separates us from God.

The Bible tells us that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.

Our sin separates us from God, who is holy and perfect. The penalty for sin is death.

“For the wages of sin is death…” Romans 6:23

Because we have all sinned, we all deserve death and eternal separation from God.

The Solution: Jesus Christ bore our sins on the cross.

The Good News is that Jesus bore the punishment we deserved by dying on the cross in our place. He took the weight of our sins so that we could be set free.

“But the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” — Romans 6:23 (continued)

Because of His sacrifice, we are offered the free gift of salvation. This salvation is not something we can earn — it is entirely God's grace.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” — Ephesians 2:8-9

The Response: Repent and Believe.

We receive this gift by placing our faith in what Jesus accomplished on the cross, and by repenting of our sins.

Repentance means acknowledging our sin, turning away from it, confessing it to the Lord, and asking for His forgiveness with a sincere heart. To repent is to turn in the other direction — away from sin and toward God.

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” — 1 John 1:9

When we confess our sins, God not only forgives them, but He chooses to forget them — no longer holding them against us.

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.” — Romans 3:23-24

Salvation is possible through faith in Jesus:

"If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame… for, ‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." Romans 10:9-11, 13

This gift of salvation is not just about escaping judgment — it’s about reconciliation with God and a restored relationship with the Father who loves us and wants to walk with us daily.

If you feel the Holy Spirit stirring your heart, don’t wait. The Bible says:

“Now is the time of salvation.” 2 Corinthians 6:2

Acknowledge your sin, confess it to the Lord, turn from it, and believe that Jesus' death and resurrection is enough to save you. This is how we begin our new life in Him.

A Lifelong Posture of Repentance

Repentance isn’t just a one-time decision — it’s a daily posture of the heart. Jesus said that those who have had a bath only need to wash their feet. We are fully cleansed at salvation (the bath), but we as we follow Jesus we will get our feet dirty, we will still stumble, mess up, and sin. That’s why we are called to continually come back to God — confessing our sins and asking for His cleansing again and again.

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” — 1 John 1:9

If you're already a believer, regularly ask the Holy Spirit to reveal anything in your heart that needs to be brought to God in confession and repentance. He is always faithful to forgive.
